San Giovanni
Founded in 1132, San Giovanni is another example of strong Norman architecture
The red domes on top shows again the influence of Islamic style
A bit rundown now, but this late Norman cloister centers on a Moorish cistern
and was renown for it's gardens of citrus blossoms and flowers
These pictures were taken from a nearby bell tower
Here we can see in the background the Palazzo dei Normanni which was the palace
of the Norman kings but now serves as the seat of the Sicilian government
In the far right distance here is the Palermo Cathedral
