The Column of Marcus Aurelius

The column was raised in 190 AD to commemorate the victory of Marcus Aurelius over the Germanic tribes. It stands 100 feet tall, and has carvings inscribed in a band all the way around which depict the story of the battles..

The column of Marcus Aurelius, originally the top had a statue of the Emperor but was replaced in 1589 with a statue of St. Paul.
