Paphos
Paphos is in the far west of Cyprus along the south coast. Most of the town itself is
not much to look at, hence no pictures of the town.
This is taken from up the north end of the town looking towards the south.
This is a picture of Paphos castle which is right in the harbour
It dates from Medieval times but we were unable to determine the exact date
This is just a nice picture looking out over a nice field to the ocean
This is the church of Agia Paraskevi. It is a Byzantine church built in the 9th century.
The belfry was added in the 19th century
These next three pictures are from the Tombs of the Kings
This is a vast necropolis that was in operation from the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD.
A close up of some of the tombs. Despite the name, Tombs of the Kings, this graveyard housed mostly
regular people
This is the most impressive structure remaining in the Tombs of the Kings.
John is hard at work with the video camera on the far left of the picture.
